tree planting

Livelihood

Footprints of Glory Foundation has realized with great concern the state of the environment in all communities in the Awudome Traditional Area. The once-thriving forests were slowly disappearing due to deforestation, and the effects were already being felt in the area. To combat this, Footprints of Glory Foundation has decided to organize a tree planting exercise in all twelve (12) communities in Awudome. Footprints of Glory has enlisted the help of the youth and women groups, Chiefs and community leaders, school pupils, teachers, as well as other local government officials, to make the exercise a success. On the day of the exercise which will be in June (day to be decided as part of the green Ghana Agenda), the volunteers will gather at the designated planting sites. They will be provided with tools and seedlings to plant. The planting process will include some people planting the seedlings, while others watered and covered them with soil. The atmosphere will be lively, with people chatting and singing while they worked. After planting these seedlings, the Footprints of Glory in collaboration with the Chiefs and Elder of the various communities will make a commitment to nurture these seedlings and care for them to grow to attain and achieve the set out goals of afforestation. Footprints of Glory will commit to preserve and protect the environment by planting more trees, and the exercise will become an annual event. The Awudome traditional area will be a better place, and everyone will be proud to be a part of the change created.
