Footprints of Glory supports Kpedze Senior High School to win 2022 award

Footprints of Glory Foundation, an NGO based in Tsito supported Kpedze Senior High School to emerge as the winner of the 2022 edition of the National Renewable Energy Challenge for Senior High schools in Ghana. The competition, which was organized by the Ministry of Energy in partnership with the Ghana Education Service, aims to promote the use of renewable energy in schools across the country.

The competition brought together senior high schools from all over Ghana to showcase their innovative ideas and projects on the use of renewable energy in their schools. The teams were judged based on their creativity, originality, and effectiveness in the implementation of their projects.

In the build-up to the grand final at the conference center in Accra, several appeals by Kpedze Senior High School to get funding to remodel their project yielded little results. Footprints of Glory Foundation when contacted for support did not hesitate to come to the aid of the school. Footprints of Glory considers the project a unique one and as part of their programs aimed at empowering the youth and supporting education supported the school to embark on this journey.

Kpedze Senior High School’s winning project focused on the use of solar energy to power the school’s computer laboratory. The team was able to install solar panels on the roof of the laboratory, which provided a reliable source of electricity for the computers and other electronic devices in the lab. The project was not only cost-effective but also helped to reduce the school’s carbon footprint.

The school’s project received high praise from the judges, who commended the team for their innovative approach and effective implementation. The judges also noted that the project had a significant impact on the school, improving the learning experience for the students and reducing the school’s energy costs.

The win was a momentous occasion for Kpedze Senior High School, which had been working tirelessly to promote renewable energy in its school and community. The school had previously won the regional competition and was excited to participate in the national finals.

In an interview with the media, the headmaster of Kpedze Senior High School expressed his joy and appreciation for the win, stating that the competition had provided a great platform for the school to showcase its potential and the importance of renewable energy.

The Headmaster also acknowledged the enormous contribution and support offered to them by Footprints of Glory Foundation.

The Ministry of Energy and the Ghana Education Service also congratulated Kpedze Senior High School on their win and commended all the participating schools for their dedication and hard work in promoting renewable energy in their schools.

The National Renewable Energy Challenge for Senior High Schools is an excellent initiative by the Ghanaian government to promote sustainable development and energy security in the country. It provides an opportunity for students to showcase their innovation and creativity while learning about the importance of renewable energy in our society.

In conclusion, Kpedze Senior High School’s win in the 2022 edition of the National Renewable Energy Challenge is a testament to the school’s dedication to promoting renewable energy and sustainable development. As a result of this achievement, the school has been nominated for the Ghana Energy Awards endorsed by the Ministry of Energy, its Agencies, and the World Energy Council to be held at the Labadi Beach Hotel on the 25th of November, 2022. the school has also been shortlisted in the OFF-GRID SOLUTION OF THE YEAR category.
